Description of Human FGF-13

Recombinant Human FGF-13 is a 245 amino acid protein, with a molecular mass of 27,6 kDa.It belongs to the FGF-11 subfamily FGF-11 to FGF-14) family. Most of its members are binding growth factors with a core 120 amino acid (aa) FGF domain which allows for a mutual tertiary structure.They have high identity with other FGFs but they do not activate FGF receptors (FGFR). Human and mouse FGF13 are 245 aa proteins which arise from genes that show N-terminal alternative splicing. Transcripts for 245 aa, 199 aa, 226 aa, 192 aa and 255 aa have been identified in human and mouse, with almost complete cross-species aa identity among all splice forms (greater than 98%). FGF13 is identified in the fetal ependyma, dorsal root and cranial ganglia, both atrial and ventricular myocardium, and in renal collecting duct-associated mesenchyme.

Reconstitution

We recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution in water to a concentration of at least 100 µg/ml, which can then be further diluted into other aqueous solutions. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week or in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C. Working aliquots should be at the highest practical concentration. For long term storage we recommend to add at least 0.1% HSA (order number: 2835.955.xyz or 2835.958.xyz) or BSA (order number: 2835.919.xyz).

Stability

The lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for up to 1 month and at least until the lot specific expiry date if kept below -18°C. Reconstituted FGF-13 should be stored in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C if possible with carrier protein. Please avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles.
