Description of Human Albumin serum / HSA, protease free
Human serum albumin (HSA) isolated from Human Plasma is a 66,5 kDa globular Protein. It is the most abundant blood plasma protein. HSA is produced in the liver as Preproalbumin and released as Proalbumin from the rough endoplasmatic reticulum. Proalbumin is cleaved in the Golgi vesicles, resulting in secreted Human Serum Albumin (HSA). It functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. HSA is widely used to stabilize blood volume generally from donors but the fear of contamination such as HIV & Hepatitis has enticed great interest in the recombinant form which is identical to the natural blood. Application: Stabilizer for other solubilized Proteins, solubilisation of lipids, blocking agent in Western Blots and ELISA applications, cell culture.
Reconstitution
Readily soluble in de-ionized water and can only precipitated by high concentrations of neutral salts. HSA helps stabilize other solubilized proteins. Albumin is readily coagulated with heat.
