Description of Human FGF-11, Isoform 1

Recombinant Human Fibroblast Growth Factor-11 Isoform 1 (FGF-11 Iso1) is a 225 amino acid protein, with C-terminal His-Tag with a molecular mass of 22,5 kDa without His-Tag. It belongs to the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess extensive mitogenic and cell survival functions, and are involved in various biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. The expression pattern of the FGF-11 mouse homolog implies a role in nervous system development.

 

Biological Activity

The ED₅₀ of ≤ 0.2 ng/ml was determined by the dose-dependent proliferation of NIH/3T3 cells. It corresponds to a specific activity of ≥ 5.0 x 10⁶ units/mg.

 

Reconstitution

We recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution in water to a concentration of at least 100 µg/ml. Do not vortex. Please allow sufficient time, at least 20 min, for complete reconstitution. This solution can then be further diluted into working aliquots and stored at -20°C to -80°C. Working aliquots should be at the highest practical concentration and preferably be used within one month after reconstitution.

 

Stability

The lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for up to 2 weeks and at least until the lot specific expiry date if kept below -18°C. Reconstituted FGF-11 should be stored in suitable working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C and used within one month after reconstitution. Please avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles.
