Description of Human IL-1 beta, cct-premium (HSA)
Recombinant human Interleukin-1 beta, cct-premium (HSA) (IL-1 beta) is a non-glycosylated 17 kDa protein con-sisting of 153 amino acid residues. IL-1beta is a potent immuno-modulator which mediates a wide range of im-mune and inflammatory responses including the activation of B and T cells. It is a proinflammatory cytokine pro-duced in monocytes, tissue macrophages, keratinocytes, and other epithelial cells. Both IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta bind to the same receptor and have similar, if not identical, biological properties. These cytokines have a broad range of activities including the stimulation of thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B cell maturation and proliferation, mitogenic FGF-like activity, and the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells.
Biological Activity
The ED50 of ≤ 10 pg/ml was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of murine D10G4.1 cells. It corresponds to a specific activity of ≥ 1.0 x 108 IU/mg.
Reconstitution
We recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution in water or to a concentration of 100 µg/ml, which can be further diluted. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week or in working aliquots at 20°C to 80°C. Working aliquots should be at the highest practical concentration.
Stability
The lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for up to 1 month and at least until the lot specific expiry date if kept below 18°C. Reconstituted IL-1 beta is stable for 3 months when stored in working aliquots at 20°C to 80°C. Please avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles.
