Description of Murine BD-3
Recombinant Murine BD-3 (Beta Defensin-3) produced in E. coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 41 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 4.6kDa.
Biological Activity
Measured by its antimicrobial activity against E. coli. The ED50 for this effect is typically 4-20µg/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 50,000-250,000units/mg.
Reconstitution
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Beta Defensin-3 in sterile 18M-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Stability
Lyophilized Beta Defensin-3 Recombinant although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution BD-3 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. Please avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
