Description of Rat IFN-gamma
Recombinant Rat Interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) is a 17 kDa protein containing 144 amino acid residues. IFN-gamma is a lymphoid factor which possesses potent anti-viral activity. It also has been shown to stimulate macrophages and NK-cells.
Biological Activity
The ED50 of 0.02-0.04µg/ml was determined by its ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC-5 cells. The ED50 as determined in a viral resistance assay is 0.05ng/ml. It corresponds to a specific activity of 2.0 x 107 IU/mg. For most in vitro applications, IFN-gamma exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 0.1 to 10.0ng/ml. Please perform appropriate test to determine the optimal concentration for your application.
Reconstitution
We recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution water to a concentration of at least 100 µg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week or in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C. Working aliquots should be at the highest practical concentration. For long term storage we recommend adding at least 0.1% HSA (order number: 2835.955.xyz or 2835.958.xyz) or BSA (order number: 2835.919.xyz).
Stability
The lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for a few weeks, but best stored desiccated below -20°C. Reconstituted protein can be stored at 4°C for a limited period of time; it does not show any change after two weeks at 4°C. Please avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles.
