Description of Human IL-22

Recombinant human IL-22 is a single, non-glycosylated homodimeric polypeptide chain containing 2x147 amino acids with a molecular mass of 33,6 kDa. References show cross reactivity with Mouse, and Monkey. IL-22 is a member of the IL-10 family of regulatory cytokines, which includes IL-10, IL-19, IL-20, IL-22, IL-24 and IL-26. Members of this family share partial homology in their amino acid sequences, but they are dissimilar in their biological functions. Produced by T lymphocytes, IL-22 inhibits IL-4 production by Th2 cells, and induces acute phase reactants in the liver and pancreas. IL-22 signals through a receptor system consisting of IL-10Rβ/CRF2-4 and IL-22R, both of which are members of the class II cytokine-receptor family.

Biological Activity

Determined by its ability to activate STAT following receptor ligand interaction. An ED₅₀ of 0,6-1,1ng/ml was measured for the induction of IL-10 secretion in COLO 205 cells.

Reconstitution

We recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution in sterile Water at a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml, which can then be further diluted into other aqueous or buffered solutions.

Stability

The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 1 year from date of receipt if stored at -20°C to -80°C. Reconstituted IL-22 should be stored at 4°C if entire vial will be used within 1 week. It is stable for least 3 months when stored in working aliquots below -20°C. Please avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
