Description of Human IFN-lambda-2 / IL-28A

Recombinant human Interferon-lambda2 (IFN-?2) is a 19.6 kDa protein containing 174 amino acid residues. IFN-lambda-1, -2, and -3 (also known as IL-29, IL-28A and IL-28B respectively) are distantly related to the IL-10 family and Interferons. All three IFN-lambdas uses a distinct receptor system composed of an IFN-lambdaR1 subunit (also called CRF2-12) and IL-10R2 subunit (also called CRF2-14). Signaling through this receptor system induces antiviral defense similar but distinct than the type I Interferons. (Kotenko, SV. Et al. Nat Immunology 2003 [1] p. 69-77).

Biological Activity

Determined by its ability to activate STAT following receptor-ligand interaction.

Reconstitution

We recommend a quick spin follow reconstitution in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at 4°C for one week or -20° for future use.

Stability

The lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for a few weeks, but best stored at -20°C. Reconstituted human IFN-?2 should be stored in working aliquots at -20°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA, order number: 2835.955.xyz or 2835.958.xyz, or BSA, order number: 2835.919.xyz). Please avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
